Moncloud is a sofa that looks towards the future of design.
Bold lines liberate the generous volumes of Moncloud, the new system designed by Patricia Urquiola that encapsulates a new perspective on upholstered furniture design thanks to Cassina's intensive research and development.
An enveloping and inviting retreat where everyday moments can be enjoyed and conviviality shared, Moncloud is a versatile system characterised by an elegant aesthetic appeal. The linear structure lifts its upholstered shapes off the ground, giving pleasing lightness and a distinct sense of softness, just like a cloud.
Innovation wears comfort
Moncloud celebrates comfort while focusing on circularity. The curved shapes of this system are not made with polyurethane moulds but the structure, an abundant and generous dress, is sculpted in recycled PET wadding, marking major design progress for the furniture industry.
Its conscious core is composed of a metal skeleton dressed in ample quilted cushioning made from recycled PET fibre that embraces the structure of the backrest and armrests like an enveloping duvet. In a triumph of comfort and softness, the welcoming seat cushions are also made of recycled PET.
This manufacturing technique was made possible through the experimentation and identification of circular materials carried out by the company to minimize the use of polyurethane foam. Moncloud therefore contains a very low percentage of elements in CIRCULARREFOAM®, a polyurethane foam made with a percentage of recycled polyols. These inserts have been developed to be separated from the other materials, thus facilitating their recycling and recovery. Having no glued parts, Moncloud is completely disassemblable at the end of its life cycle.
Unique details and crafting
Like a soft dress, the fabric upholstery wraps around the sofa's volumes creating a special folded detail that enhances the beauty of its profiles. The back cushions, on the other hand, feature a central stitching that gives a unique and refined aesthetic to each module.
Open shapes and dynamic compositions
Moncloud defines home environments through a careful selection of modules that leave room for different interpretations of use. The elements can be combined to create original compositions, while a part of them can be used individually. In a play of joints, a glossy or matte lacquered coffee table, available in a wide range of colours, can be integrated into the composition of the various elements, creating a dynamic material alternation.
